about me
In my private counselling practice,
my safe haven, we can work through your fears and questions, the judgemental self-talk, the values that stop us from feeling safe or taking time to look after ourselves and heal.
That’s what I’m here for.
Since 2012, I have been counselling individuals, couples and groups for the St John’s Catholic Church Counselling centre on issues ranging from relationship struggles to emotional abuse and bereavement. I ran an Anxiety and Depression group with SADAG facilitators for three years and worked with PTSD and anger-management in groups and in my practice. I worked with St John’s facilitators in bereavement and divorce therapy groups.
I spent 30 years working in various positions in the television industry, and returned to University at the age of 43 to qualify as a social worker because I felt a real need to help people deal with day-to-day stresses.
As a mature student I mentored younger learners and I know the challenges faced by students and their support networks in today’s South African climate. I love my own son very much and I want him to grow up in a society where help and support are available through every stage of his education.
During the COVID pandemic, I did research for Community Radio on isolation and coping skills and presented an Anxiety Workshop for Trinity Methodist Church. I presented Covid fatigue research for company colloquiums and began employee assistance counselling.
